And the Lord Sayeth, Ponderize
It is
interesting to me how people say that “money makes the world go round” and
others say “money can’t buy happiness”, but I’m sure the people that stated
those quotes were trying to make money from those quotes or outside of those
quotes. The point I am trying to make is that no matter who you are you are
always seeking ways to make more money, and in this case it was a religious
leader. I for one am not Mormon but have attended general conference before
with some friends that allowed me to tag along. The talks given at general conference
are strong, and empowering to those who stay awake to hear them. When I heard
about the Ponderize case I found it odd, it did seem like a good lesson to
teach others but it seemed like it had a different meaning behind it. Here you can view the
speech in full, where from the moment the speech starts you get a sense of
money and how to make it. I was never aware of what happens after a general
conference but apparently many members begin using what they have learned and
use it for memes or even merchandise. You never care much about what some of
these people make, but since a leader like Devin Durrant put up a website to
but merchandise after the conference it seemed odd.
I don’t think Devin wanted the
website and merchandise to have bad intentions but I think that because of his position
in power it was viewed that way. Honestly, I don’t care if a leader of the
church decides to sell merchandise that is based off of what they said for
their personal gain. If anything more power to them, but it brings me back to
my first point. We all are in search for money and how to get more of it so how
come when this man wanted to make money we all looked down on him. Was it
because we didn’t think of it first? Or was it because you see it as immoral?
Also you can find some pretty sweet stuff on Pinterest that
have to do with ponderize.
